How do you decide between selective, push back, and drive-in racking for a Houston warehouse?

It comes down to SKU count, pallet depth per SKU, and how often each item is touched. Wide SKU counts with daily picking stay in selective racking so every position is reachable. When you hold six or more pallets of the same item, push back or drive-in recovers a large amount of floor by trading a little selectivity for density. We usually zone a building — dense storage on the slow movers, selective on the pick face — and show you the pallet count both ways before you commit.

We are out of floor space. What can be gained without leasing another building?

Between raising beam elevations to match your true clear height, narrowing aisles to your forklift's real turning radius, and converting slow-moving zones to deeper storage, it is common to add 25 to 60 percent more pallet positions inside the same walls. We model it in CAD first so you can compare the racking cost against a lease before making a call.

What does your free warehouse design consultation actually include?

You send pallet dimensions and weights, clear height, forklift type, and a building footprint with column locations. We come back with a CAD layout showing rows, aisle widths, and beam elevations, a total pallet position count, an itemized component list with load ratings, and installation pricing. There is no charge and nothing is ordered until you approve the drawing.

How do you keep installation from shutting down shipping and receiving?

We phase the work. Most Houston installations run off-hours, over a weekend, or row by row so receiving and shipping keep moving while the crew works a sectioned-off area. Before we start we agree on which zones come down when, so your team knows where product is going each day.

Can you relocate our racking to a new facility?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We tear down, transport, and reinstall existing warehouse racking, and we inspect components on the way out — anything bent, cracked, or out of tolerance gets flagged and replaced rather than reinstalled. Relocations are also the best moment to improve the layout, so we usually redraw the new building rather than copy the old one.
